Youth & Adolescents Role-Playing Game RPG

Introduction

We will accept a broad range of presentations, from reports on academic and commercial projects to tutorials and case studies. As long as the presentation is interesting and potentially useful to the audience, it will be considered for inclusion in the programme.

Talks Types

  • Regular Talks. These are standard talks with slides, alocated in slots of 60 minutes.
  • Lightning Talks. These are 30 minutes talks on many different topics. Most topics are accepted in lightning talks.

Submission Agreement

We require speakers to accept an agreement in which they commit to:

  • Timely release of presentation material (slides), for publishing on our website.
  • Allow video and audio recording of their presentation, for publishing on our website.

RPG PRO 4-hr Workshop Session 1: Onboarding for new Third Edition Role-Playing Game Professional Trainees, Orientation and Introduction to IF and RPG Theories Part I.

Pre-session required course materials checklist. (Note that this should be addressed online before event in some cases to maximize value of the actual session).

Administrative “onboarding”, platform logins, time check-in, & ID badges. (Note that this might be addressed online before event in some cases to maximize value of the actual session).

Trainee tech access setup, verify logins, etc. (Note that this might be addressed online before event in some cases to maximize value of the actual session).

  • Sign into systems.

  • "Clock in" for applied hours tracking.

  • Optional baseline quiz questions walk-through & lecture (only if all prerequisites addressed before session through online support, if required to setup participants during session, then skip baseline quiz).

  • Supplies shopping checklist handout, for those interested in attending future workshops.

  • Important of, and example of, RPG Player Code of Conduct (CoC) & safety considerations.

  • Introduction to the RPG Professionals Third Edition training program & getting started.

  • Recommended sites and resources.

  • Advancement outline overview.

  • Advancement tiers & levels.

  • Experience hours badge color coding.

  • Training & applied hours tracking, renewing certificates, diplomas (do not need renewals), & CEUs for maintaining certification.

  • Introduction to the History of role-playing games Part I: Precursors and Offshoots.

  • Theory: Intro to the importance of play for health, functioning, creativity, etc.

  • Tips, Tricks, & Tools of the Trade: Start building your first Player’s Kit.

  • Applied Gaming: Non-RPG (Book/eBook) branching narrative Interactive Fiction (IF) format.

  • Preview of RPG Professional Third Edition 4-hour Workshop Session 2.

  • Quiz (re)take and scoring.

  • Activities/assignments required to be completed before attending next workshop session:
    Finish IF Adventure yourself to at least one fully successful outcome.

  • Journal update of IF Adventure experience(s).

  • Update “Total Hours”.

  • Sign out of systems.
